Inflation drops to 4.2%, more QE predicted

There was a small amount of relief for cash-strapped Brits yesterday (17 January 2012) as official figures revealed a sharp drop in the rate of inflation.
According to the Office for National Statistics, Consumer Prices Index (CPI) inflation fell to 4.2% in December from the 4.8% observed in the previous month.
It represents the largest monthly fall in nearly three years and the lowest level for six months. CPI reached a peak of 5.2% in September.
